Stocking Full of Love in White on White

I'm squ"eek"ing this one in under the wire! It's for the House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge and the deadline is less than three hours from now. As those little mice would say "EEK!" I am also submitting this card for this week's Stamp Something Challenge.

The House Mouse challenge blog is celebrating it's first birthday and the theme for this challenge was to choose one or more of your favorite challenges from the last year for your entry. I chose two - Challenge #43 (the sketch shown below) and Challenge #47 (White on White). I didn't have the opportunity to participate in the White on White challenge when it was posted, so I was glad to have another opportunity. For this challenge only the image could be colored. All other elements of the card had to be white. I used some embossing to add some texture and help define the elements of the card.

The sketch I used is from Challenge #43 and is one of my favorites. I have used it on other cards and also seen several others use it as well. Since the theme for this week's Stamp Something challenge is something with your favorite sketch or layout, I am submitting it for that challenge as well. Like most other things, I don't have one favorite sketch or layout, but this is definitely one a like a lot and have used more than once.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great week!!!

A Summer White Card

I made this card for Chris's sketch challenge on the Papercrafts message forum on Creating Keepsakes this week. I am also thinking of using it for a white on white card swap I'm in on Splitcoaststampers. I haven't made the final decision on that yet.

I used three different Cuttlebug folders for this card. I can't remember the name of the one I used for the background. It's swirled vines with little birds on it. It's the first time I've used that one. I used Swiss Dots for the vertical piece and Textile for the squares. I punched the squares with my 1 1/4" square punch, then put them on 1 1/2" scalloped squares that I cut with my Nesties.

I used two stamps from the Inkadinkado Garden Flowers clear set for the main image. I embossed them in white, then cut the piece with my classic circle Nesties. I used a scalloped circle nestie for the mat. I finished it off with a white organza ribbon and three pearls.

I think the white on white cards are so pretty and elegant. I wished they photographed a little better. The card really looks much better in person.

Thanks for looking!

My First White on White Card

I have been seeing some beautiful white on white cards lately, but hadn't tried one myself yet. I finally found myself with a perfect opportunity. This is a 3x3 card that I made for an embossing theme swap that I am in on Splitcoaststampers.

The requirements of the swap were to have either heat embossing or dry embossing on the card. Embossing with Cuttlebug folders was also allowed. My card has both types of embossing. The image and sentiment are heat embossed in white and the background was created with the Textile Cuttlebug folder. I cut all my pieces with my square Nestabilities. Everything was mounted on the large scalloped square, which was then placed on top of the 3x3 card base.

My white on white is actually cream on cream. I didn't think the image showed up well enough on white so I used cream to give it a little bit of contrast. The colors are not really true to life in the picture. Because the scanner lightens the items it's scanning, the image and sentiment were almost invisible. I adjusted the brightness and contrast to help that out, which resulted in the overall color being a little off. I really need to learn how to take decent phots of my cards because I know that would eliminate those types of problems. I really do try, but pretty much always scanning works better for me. Maybe someday I'll get it. :)
